The sky was Gray and the water below was choppy and restless. The waves crashed the shore as if taunting them both to wade in. Tanner closed his eyes for a moment, breathing in the salt air that was blowing in from the sea. It was a scent meant for the gods, so utterly perfect. Argo, not wanting to soak in the moment, was shuffling his feet, ready to run. He through his head up and snorted before falling back into a headset. Tanner trotted Argo in a circle along the shore, his hooves tossing damp sand carelessly behind him. It took almost all of Tanners strength to keep Argo at a decent pace. As they wound the circle again Tanner caught a glimpse of a relatively clear path along the shore. Finally Tanner let the reigns loose and Argo took off down the shore. Hearing the thundering of hooves and the power beneath him, Tanner couldn't help but smile. Letting the feeling get under his skin, he urged Argo to go faster. Tanner was always pleasantly surprised with Argos never ending pickup in speed. Tanner saw a bend approaching, but didn't slow his pace. Soon enough they rounded the bin only to approach a fallen tree trunk, half rotted, whose old jagged limbs protruded from the top. Argo leaped suddenly, catching Tanner off guard. Even though Argo cleared the trunk itself, the extra branches tangled themselves in Argos front hooves. Argo landed awkwardly, falling forward too much. Tanner was thrown aside, tossed onto the mix of sand and jagged rocks below. Before he completely collapsed, Argo caught himself and cantered off bucking and frustrated. Tanner rolled over onto his stomach, his eyes immediately began searching for Argo. When he tried to lean up he noted a slicing pain down his back. He leaned his right arm behind him and felt his back. He felt that the cut was deep and when he brought his hand back around it was stained with blood. When he looked back up Argo was trotting up to him, snorting loudly and shaking his head, his reigns broken. Argo looked to the sea and then back to Tanner, smelling the hot blood that lingered from Tanner's wound. Although Argo's eyes were now wild, he remained calm. "That's my bad," Tanner said while running his bloody hand through his hair to wipe it out of his eyes. Tanner stood up and immediately fell forwards onto Argo. Argo shifted, again smelling the heavy scent that was becoming ever more enticing on Tanner. Tanner immediately picked himself back up and grabbed what was left of the reigns. He walked Argo over to the side and drew a circle around him and spit in it. He then sat down next to a nearby log and closed his eyes, trying to block out the splintering pain trailing his back.
