Pacing down the sloping hill the lead from the tufted island grass to the rocky pebbles of the Southern beach, Anastasya looked out cautiously over the water. Capall Uisce would be making landfall any day, some early-birds had already in other areas, and she did not want to be caught unsuspectingly when it happened. However, she also wanted to search the area for sea-glass. Pendants made from it sold to tourists for decent coin, when she had enough to make them. Eyes flicking along the surf again, she moved out along the pebbles to begin her search, her hair being tossed playfully in the wind.

Hunter was walking quietly along the edge of the sand, farther onto shore. He was just out for some air. He had just returned from his aunt's grounds, so he had some dirt on his clothes from working. He had yet to go visit Damini and give her the evening feed, but it was not due for another hour. The smell of the salt water captivated him for now. He could see a girl closer to the water than himself, and wondered why she was out when the Capall would be around in bigger amounts than normal. He watched her with one eye.

Anastasya continued her search, kneeling down in the sand every now and then to brush it around. As she began finding smaller pieces of sea-glass, she picked them up and deposited them in her palm, seemingly oblivious to his attention to her. As her attention focused more, and more on her task, she didn't seem to notice as the tide started rolling in further.

Hunter narrowed his eyes at the tide, and slowly started to meander his way closer to the water, just in case. He didn't know the girl and didn't want to interrupt her searching, but was set uneasy by that. If a horse came up now, she was so focused she might not even see its nose bob above the water.

She stood, jiggling the stones in her hands, before turning, and seeming to notice as she started to take a step in that direction. Immediately her form grew still... She took a half step back before moving forward to rinse the glass pieces and place them in her pocket. She turned her face up then to see a form rolling in with the tide... and immediately Anastasya recoiled.

Hunter saw it too. He moved slowly towards Anastasya, but was excessively careful not to draw attention to himself. When he was close to her he froze, eyes fixed on the water. "Stay still." He urged her, praying the water horse would not choose them as prey that moment.

Black dots began encroaching on Anastasya's vision, and she had no trouble following his direction. Her breaths were white puffs in the air, rapid and shallow, her eyes fixed on the form... But the form that finally solidified and rolled up out of the surf lay still. Unmoving. As the black began tor recede... she saw the blood covering many bites on the corpse.

Biting his lip, Hunter looked at Anastasya with more concern than anything. But he kept part of his vision trained on the water, half out of fear that the Capall would return, half to be sure the tide stayed where it needed to for now. "We should get out of here."

She swallowed, throat feeling slightly raw at the sight. Ana forced her legs to carry herself backward, away from it, though her eyes remained trained on the body and the surrounding tide. "I agree... Let's go."

Hunter nodded. He turned and headed quite purposefully for the land again, away from the beach. He looked back to make sure she was following.

She'd turned as soon as they'd made some distance from it, breaking into a jog momentarily to catch up to him. "I didn't see you around here... Though to be honest I am glad you were... I don't like the entirely wild ones."

Hunter nodded his agreement. "Me neither. As much as I love the Capall, I would prefer not to be one's prey." He said, frowning slightly at the thought. "My name is Hunter Summers. Yours?"

"Anastasya Sanders." She responded, extending her hand abruptly in a nearly boy-ish way. Her head felt clearer, her pulse slowing, the father they got from the beach. "I think the 'Summers' is familiar... I just can't quite pin it." She apologized.

Hunter chuckled at her tomboy demeanor, and shook her hand. "Pleasure to meet you. And you might have heard of my parents or my aunt. My parents are fairly rich but don't share money well, so I work for my aunt who is also rich and doesn't share." He chuckled.

She seemed to consider that for a long moment. "You live with your aunt... I forget the first name, but if I recall correctly, she comes to the bakery on Wednesdays and Fridays for our cinnamon bread...." She smiled, and looked at the ground as she shook her head. "Its a shame I can remember what she wanted to buy but not the name."
