"Evelyn." Hunter chuckled. "She is partially disabled now. Which is why I work for her, and now she just hobbles around wherever she wants."

She considered for a moment, then snapped her fingers. "That's it. I should have know it sooner." Anastasya cocked her head to the side slightly, focusing on the 'why I work for her'. "What do you do for her, if you don't mind my asking?"

"Groundskeeper." Hunter replied. "Basic labor, caring for her horses and ponies, keeping the landscaping and animals in check...The works."

She nodded, considering... "I work at the bakery.... erm.... Well you kind of already got that." Ana rolled her eyes and ran her tongue over her lower lip in an 'ohI'mstupid' sort of connotation. "Anyway, horses and ponies... She has many I take it?"

Hunter nodded, smiling as he spoke of the horses. "She used to ride when before her accident, and doesn't want to sell the horses. The ponies mostly keep her company because we are both too big to ride them."

"What was the accident?" Her brows drew close together curiously, and almost worriedly. Yes, on Thisby accidents were common, from regular horses and ponies alike, but especially ones involving water horses. She hoped the woman hadn't suffered one from the latter.

"She fell off one of her Capall and was trampled. She received a lot of scars and bite marks but myself and the other hands saved her before more damage was done." Hunter explained. "She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Anastasya grimaced. So it was as she had thought. "Those sort of accidents are more and more common each year. More people keep getting involved with the races... Though I can't necessarily disagree with them... Considering I ride in them myself. My mare gave me a pretty nasty bite last year anyway."

Hunter nodded his agreement, and touched his own cheek where his scar was. "I got that from the first Capall I ever rode." He told her. "And my mare now was an awful biter when I got her. Still is if you're not careful. Are you riding this year too?"

"Yes." She nodded, examining the scar out of the corner of her eye. "My mare, NausicaƤ... She got my shoulder. The mark she left is as big as a man's fist." In a way, she sounded almost eerily fond of the Capall.

Hunter nodded. "It's a dangerous sport. Days I wonder why we even do it...." He said, though he already knew why. He did it because he loved the Capall. Every bit of them, from their draw to the ocean to their coats and their superiority to the other horses.

She made a sound of agreement, seeming grim for a couple minutes. "If it weren't such a blood sport, it might be half way pleasant." She tried to not sound crazy.

Hunter agreed with her. "Yes." He said, biting his lip. "It is almost time to start training again, in preperation."

Anastasya cast him a sideways glance. "Its a shame people move to new mounts each year. Its almost more risky than sticking with one." She noticed the edge of white teeth compressing skin. "Are you worried?"

Hunter nodded. "Always. Not of my own mare but of the other's who pick up the aggressive ones on the first day."
