Phoenix nestled into the large chair behind the counter of the bookstore. She had plenty of business but when things got slow she enjoyed curling up in the tall chair and reading a book. Usually she read the classics, today her hands ran over the cover of a leather bound copy of Tempest by William Shakespeare. SHe was careful of leaning on her side, she still wore a large bruise than enveloped most of her left side from an accident with her capall. Phoenix tucked her legs up under the hem of her blacn anc white dress as she read farther into her book, when she started reading like this only the sound of the door chiming when opened would rouse her from her daze.

Spencer adjusted the leather satchel he carried, conscious of the delicate brushes and watercolor paints inside, as well as the fresh paper he'd just picked from from another shop in Hastoway. He didn't want to take any chances ruining the supplies; it'd taken three bridle commissions until he'd had enough to get everything he'd wanted. However, there was one more thing he wanted: a new book, particularly one on some artists from the mainland. He'd whipped off the last one quick enough, having finished a painting with the techniques inside, and thankfully had taken the time to order in the second volume in the series.
That was his entire reason for entering the bookstore when he did, eyes skimming over the shelves as he inhaled a big breath of the scent of unturned pages.

Phoenix turned from her book almost groggily. The door to the bookstore had opened, and a handsome young man had stepped through the door. Wow. was all she could think as she looked at him. She winced as she stood up from her chair and walked to the counter. She wore stilettos so she appeared to be 5'6. "Hi sir, can I help you with anything?" she asked him? her head tilted slightly to the side as she smiled softly.

He looked from the shelves to the girl, interrupted from his momentary joy of the scent. Spencer shifted the satchel again, now slightly awkward, or rather, shy. The girl was not the older woman he'd seen in here in the past... Just looking at her, as he did with most of the female sex, he felt the back of his neck redden slightly, perhaps even more so when she actually talked to him.
He cleared his throat. "Ah... Yes, please... I need to pick up a special order I called in a few weeks ago."

Phoenix smiled softly at him. He was very cute. Can I get your name for the order? she asked him. SHe pulled out her book that held all of the orders placed before her aunt gave her the store. She flipped to the pages near the end and glanced back at up. She ran a hnd through her blond hair before glancing behind the counter to see if ther ewere any books that had ocme in recently. "Or you can tell me the name of the book youordered."{/b] She sia d with a smile, looking back up to the young man, he was much taller than her, most likely a foot taller than her. She bit her lip, she wanted to talk to him but couldn't think of what else she could say to him.

He offered a shy smile in return. "Spencer Wiggins...." Eyes focused on hers for a moment, they flitted away as he considered. What was the damn name of the book? He felt so warm in here, like he could barely breathe. It was making it hard to think.... In a rush he remembered. "TechniquesGouachePainting." It came out in a slur, and he quickly repeated himself, focusing on clear words as his cheeks reddened slightly. "Techniques Gouache Painting. Volume 2."

Phoenix smiled knowing the rather large book he was talking about. SHe herself had gone through it wondering what artist on the island had ordered it. She bent down, wincing slightly and picked up the book from below the counter. "So you're a painter? she asked him, ringin up the total on the cash register for his book.

"Not full time." He admitted. The distraction of pulling the bag of coins out of his satchel was a welcome distraction from looking at her for a moment; a welcome distraction from the blush he felt in his face. Depositing the necessary number of coins on the counter, he slid them toward her. Spencer finally looked at her again, amber eyes seeming more alight with interest now. "I like it though, and wouldn't mind doing it full time... Right now I work with my father... He's the, ah, saddle-maker that takes care of most of Thisby. I tool the leather."

"An aspiring artist, i like that. she said softly, she took the coins from him and deposited them in the cash register., grabbing a bag from under the counter she wrapped up his book. "The saddle-maker? I've been needing to get a matching tack set made, could i commission you to make something for my boy? she asked him eagerly. Her smile had widened as she looked at him. If she tried to commission him she would probably spend hours with him going over the fine details she wanted in this set.

He couldn't help but smile back. It was infectious. Especially when the girl seemed to approve of his interest in art... He liked that already. "Well, really it wouldn't be me you'd be commissioning, it'd be my father, but we could still talk about it. Its somewhat busy, but I could set an appointment with you...." He tapped his fingers on the counter in thought. "Tomorrow perhaps? You'd need to stop by the shop to talk to dad about the saddle style, then help me get an idea for the design." He seemed to relax slightly, talking about something in his element. "Or we could talk tooling now; I have a little time."

"Lets move to the couches, if you don't mind" She said sweetly, moving out from behind the cash register and towards the a couch. She sat down and patted the seat next to her, offering Spencer a shy smile. SHe pulled her legs up underneath her after sliding off her heels. "I'm Phoenix Jarvis by the way, Zelda's niece.

Spencer followed her, eyes flitting to her legs with another slight blush as she removed her shoes... Interesting shoes, he couldn't help but think. Tall, they had to make her seem taller herself... It made him a little curious. "I'm Spence Wiggins... Though you kind of got that from earlier I suppose." He chuckled nervously. He flipped open the satchel, retrieving a piece of paper and a three pencils of various size, as well as an eraser.

"MY capall is a palomino sabiano, rare. i want a set of tack that won't clash against the yellow or white but will really stand out, maybe a black or dark cherry?" She bit her lip, trying to convey exactly what she wanted into words, it was hard though. "Is it possible to have an intricate design in the leather? she asked him, her arms wrapping around her legs.

He seemed mildly surprised at her mentioning of owning a Capall, however he did not miss a beat. Though the image was not exactly accurate in his mind of what the mare would look like exactly, he found himself slowly nodding. "Black would be the better of the two." At the mentioning of intricate designs, he could only grin. "Intricate is my middle name... What did you have in mind style wise?"

She leaned in closer as she spoke to him. " I don't want any straps obnoxiously thick or too thin, enough to stand out but not to flashy. but for the intricate design, cherry blossoms woven through the pattern would be nice and whatever detail you would like to add without over powering it. she smiled at him and bit her lip, waiting for his feedback on her design idea. Cherry blossoms were her favorite flower and she wanted them incorporated with the tack set as long as it wouldn't look tacky.
