A Dangerous Delight

Tanner held Argo's reigns with trust, letting them dangle ever so slightly as they walked along the edge of the cliffs. He realized his first mistake of the day when the wind hit his bare arms. He had left his sweater in the barn, and it left him longing for warmth. It was a quiet morning but the early winds gave it a chilling bite. The silence consumed him, and although he was rather alone, he let the songs of the ocean take him. The waves crashed against the edge of the cliff and they called to Argo with bitter dismay. Argo turned his head to the sea, as if hearing the never-ending call, ears pricked, nostrils flaring. Argo shuffled beneath Tanner, urging him. He grasp the reigns tighter now, never forgetting that it was a capall under him rather than a horse. Despite the previous run he was still ready to go, his energy seemingly endless. Tanner remembered the fist time he had brought Argo here, and then he had seemed uncontrollable so close to the choppy water. Now though, although longing, he was content. Argo knew Tanner trusted him but was also aware of Tanners ever watchfulness over him. Tanner stood out on his bey stallion, Argo's deep coat against the sand-like rocky surface the cliffs were made of. Tanner took a deep breath of the morning air and stretched out Argo a bit more to calm him. Finally argo settled and came to a steady walk along the cliff. Tanner knew that Argo's state of peacefulness wouldn't last for long, so he embraced it and continued to follow his path along the cliff's edge.

"Yes,that's it Ghost,"Scarlet whispered into her Capall's ear"keep up that speed girl."She tilted her head back and gave a whoop as Ghost races on the clifts,failing to notice the other two beings.

Suddenly Argo tensed. He raised his head and stood completely still which caused Tanner to slide deeper into his seat and tighten his grip on the reigns. "Argo..." Tanner said in a low but deep voice. When the stallion still didn't respond Tanner turned his glance forwards, just in time to see a white beast at a full gallop taking the corner. Before Tanner could get a better view of the team Argo reared with a shrill cry and tossed himself into the air. Tanner pulled his left reign sharply into Argo's neck. Tanner knew it had to be a capall, otherwise Argo wouldn't have reacted so severely. Argo twisted and trotted a circle, ears pricked towards the oncoming capall.

Scarlet pulled Ghost into an abrupt halt in front of Argo and gave Tanner a slightly annoyed look.Ghost tilted her head slightly,as if she was confused by the presence of the other Capall. Scarlet copied her Capall and waited for Tanner to speak.

The team had now halted in front of Tanner, and now that they were closer, he could see the red markings that splashed the seemingly solid white capall. Tanner mirrored the look the rider gave him, as when they had stopped so close and so suddenly that it caused Argo into a few step retreat. Argo pinned his ears and flung his head at the other capall but remained silent. "If you didn't steer so close to the edge you might not have had to stop so suddenly," Tanner said agitated. He looked at her capall, she had a bold and beautiful coat. He couldn't recall seeing any other like it. "but, thats quite an interesting mare you have, I don't think I've ever seen one like her," He said calmly, realizing how aggressive he sounded previously. Tanner had a habit of speaking his mind, quickly and without forethought. It was something he always regretted later on but something he didn't get much chance to master.

Scarlet gave a humph and kept her annoyed expression,refusing to admit that Tanner was right, but she let a small smile creep onto her lips as he complimented her Capall "Thanks,"she replied"I'm Scarlet by the way."

"Tanner, Tanner Boeman." he said after Scarlet reveled her name. His words were softer now as he eased back into his state of calm, letting the morning absorb his worry. Argo shuffled beneath Tanner, now eager with excitement. "Easy," Tanner said, keeping it short and to the point. His voice seemed to calm Argo in itself, and the stallion stilled and turned his gaze on the sea. He knew his rider all to well. Not really knowing where to turn the conversation he ask "Are you training for the races or were you just out for the run?".
